Maintenance Technician, I&E

Purpose of Job Maintains plant equipment by using various hand and power tools, and test equipment to diagnose, calibrate, and repair plant machinery.

Key Accountabilities • Maintain facility electrical systems • Maintain, document, and repair equipment electronic control systems and instrumentation • Graphic panel displays, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), digital and analog communication modules and single loop analog controls • Maintain, repair, and calibrate instrumentation and control systems associated with processing equipment to ensure that production and quality targets are achieved • Maintain boiler and water treatment systems (softener and reverse osmosis units) as well as addition of boiler chemicals and repair of boiler and pumps • Maintain and repair motors, transformers, motor control centers, breakers, control systems, plant lighting, and 120 volts to 480-volt in-plant systems • Assist in determining electrical requirements of new system installations • Assist in determining electronic component requirements required of new and existing system installations • Fluent in understanding various forms of electrical and mechanical diagrams and schematics • The Instrumentation/Electrician Technician ensures: o A high level of Sasol workforce and contract service performance in regard to Sasol’s Safety and Health Policies, ISO9001, and plant policies and practices o Repairs and modification are with national codes and industry practice o Provides input on training programs to keep training current and relevant o Appropriate support to the Engineering on project installations and startup o Supports continuous improvement efforts to optimize plant performance o Safe working practices and maintenance of the equipment safely Formal Education • High School Diploma or GED • Associates or Technical degree in electrical (preferred)

Working Experience • Minimum 2 years experience repairing plant process equipment • 5+ years of industrial experience working with low/high voltage equipment used in an industrial setting (preferred) • 5+ years of PLC programming (preferred)

Required Personal and Professional Skills • Knowledge of automation and electrical best practices • Ability to operate equipment such as fork- lifts, boom trucks, aerial lifts, etc. • Ability to follow instructions and to communicate effectively in both oral and written form • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; push or pull up to 100 lbs.; ascend and descend steps or ladders; bend or kneel; work out of doors for extended periods of time • Must be able to wear respirator.

Maintenance Technician, Mechanical

Purpose of Job Uses various hand and power tools, repairs and maintains plant process equipment, and performs maintenance on other company equipment and property. Key Accountabilities • Performs routine repairs on defective pumps, compressors, conveyors, gearboxes, mills, kilns, boilers, scrubbers, dust collectors, coolers, blowers, vehicles, etc. • Performs routine maintenance for plant equipment such as lubrication, component adjustment, and equipment checkout for the above items • Completes weekly and monthly reports on equipment inspections • Performs repairs on processing equipment to ensure product and process quality Formal Education • High School Diploma or GED Working Experience • Minimum 2 years’ experience repairing plant process equipment preferred Required Personal and Professional Skills • Ability to operate equipment such as lathes, drill presses, welders, specialized fabrication equipment, forklifts, boom trucks, front-end loaders, Bobcats, etc. • Ability to follow instructions, and to communicate effectively in both oral and written form • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; push or pull up to 100 lbs.; ascend and descend steps or ladders; bend or kneel; work outdoors for extended periods of time • Must be able to wear a respirator

Plant Processor(s)

Purpose of Job • Operates plant equipment and performs routine plant operations as assigned by supervisor

Key Accountabilities • Under direction of Shift Supervisor or Plant Operator I and II, operates plant equipment including filters, kilns, ball mills, vibro mills, jet mills, screens, compressors, generators, wastewater treatment system, mobile equipment, boilers, as well as other required processing procedures and equipment • Performs assigned material handling, record keeping, and measurement tasks • Accurately logs data, collects samples and corrects minor operational irregularities • Executes instructions for special runs requiring alternate processing conditions • Operate the plant equipment in a manner to ensure product and process quality Formal Education • High School Diploma or GED Working Experience • 0 to 1 year previous experience in a manufacturing environment desirable • Good oral and written communicate skills Physical Requirements • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs • Must be able to wear a respirator • Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 52 lbs

Laboratory Technician

Purpose of Job Performs inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process and final products samples. Communicates results to operations in a timely manner to maintain Quality Control of operation processes.

Key Accountabilities • Ensures product quality of alumina-based products • Determines the chemical purity and/or content of alumina-based products and plant- related samples, including waste streams, using state-of-the-art instrumentation • Performs diverse chemical and/or physical analysis on products, specialty products, intermediate solids and solutions associated with the Tucson manufacturing process • Collects, organizes and documents data • Responsible for entering results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database • Maintains accurate records of all laboratory tests • Responsible of creating laboratory run sheets • Performs basic equipment troubleshooting as necessary to maintain laboratory instrumentation • Notifies supervisor, operations and other parties when out of specification and/or control results are found • Complies with Document Management strategy for the company along with the policies and procedures that address quality assurance, information standards, and regulations pertaining to Document Management • Complies with Sasol’s Safety and Health Policies, ISO 9001:2015, plant policies and practices • Assists to continuous improvement efforts to optimize plant performance. Recommends and helps implement process modifications, operating procedure modifications, and physical plant/equipment modifications to increase productivity and improve the quality of materials produced Formal Education • High School Diploma or GED • Associate’s Degree in Chemistry or Biology preferred Working Experience • One year experience as Laboratory Technician or Analyst, in either chemical or related industry Required Personal and Professional Skills • Basic knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Word and Outlook • Basic statistics knowledge (variation, trend analysis) • Must be detail-oriented and have good organizational skills • Must have good oral and written communication skills • Must be able to distinguish colors

 

Maintenance Supervisor

Purpose of Job • Provides continuous improvement in maintenance services to the Tucson plant • May support and perform maintenance activities in the field, as needed • Assists in planning maintenance schedules • Coordinates closely with the operations supervision to ensure efficient and effective completion of maintenance activities • Oversees the installation, operation, and maintenance, of equipment in the plant • Assures responsibility and accountability for SHES and Quality Management systems goals, objectives and targets • Interacts with Production, Engineering, Laboratory, SHES Department, and Process Support

Key Accountabilities

Supervise the daily field activities of Sasol hourly and contract maintenance services. The maintenance supervisor oversees activities within his/her area of expertise. A typical span of responsibility for the maintenance supervisor includes the following:

• Oversight of maintenance activities within multiple operating units totaling approximately $25 million in replacement asset value (RAV) • Responsible for the efficient field execution of $1.0 - $1.5 million of routine (non-turnaround) annual maintenance expenditures – including Sasol labor, contract services, material, and rentals • Accountable for leading maintenance efforts to achieve SHES and Quality Management Systems goals, objectives and targets as established by management • Job planning, material preparation, and cost estimation of maintenance work activities

The Maintenance Supervisor ensures: • A high level of Sasol workforce, and contract service performance regarding Sasol’s Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security policies, ISO 9001, and plant policies • Participation in Management Reviews • Optimization of human and financial resources • Repairs comply with national codes and industry practice • Adequate spare part inventories to support each unit’s business strategy • Provides guidance/input on training programs to keep individuals current with new project installations • Appropriate support to the engineering department on project installations and start-up • Responsible for maintenance of facilities to ensure plant security • Maintenance performance measures are maintained, and continuous improvement is pursued Formal Education • High School Diploma or equivalent required Working Experience • 5 years of industrial maintenance experience • Supervisory experience preferred • Experience in turnaround management preferred • Experience in planning/scheduling routine work Required Personal and Professional Skills • Knowledge of codes and standards • Excellent organizational, verbal and written skills, and good interpersonal skills • Must be able to solve problems and assist in development of corrective action programs • Ability to positively influence and motivate others
