ABOUT US:

Creekside Counseling Center was developed in 1998 by Connie Callahan and Keith Manner for the purpose of providing high quality mental health services to the citizens of Shasta County. In 2003 Creekside Counseling Center was developed into a California Non-Profit Corporation to provide mental health services to children, teens, and adults in the Redding area. The staff of Creekside Counseling Center provide group and individual counseling services treating a wide variety of mental health concerns. We conduct critical incident debriefings, psycho education presentations, and crisis interventions.

Creekside Counseling Center is unique in that we focus on hiring and developing first rate marriage and family therapists that are well compensated for their expertise and skill. We employ staff with the intention that they will grow within our organization personally and professionally for years to come. We are an organization with a clear vision and passion for people. We aspire to be the best mental health agency we can possibly be. We have an excellent reputation in this vibrant community and we intend to continue building that reputation.

COUNSELING FOR INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, COUPLES, CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS

Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT) are mental healthprofessionals that are licensed to diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders within the context of individuals, marriage, couples, and families.

Personal Counseling is not easily described in general statements. It varies depending on the personalities of the therapist, client, and the particular challenges we bring forward. There are many different methods we may use to deal with the challenges that you hope to address. We have therapists that are certified in EMDR, which is an effective way to treat trauma related issues. Art/play therapy is also a very effective tool to help treat childrenas well as adults that have trouble communicating. Psychotherapy is not like a medical doctor visit. Instead, it calls for a very active effort on your part. In order for the therapy to be most successful, you will have to work on things we talk about both during our sessions and at home.

Psychotherapy can have benefits and risks. Since therapy often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness and helplessness; on the other hand psychotherapy has also been shown to have benefits for people who go through it. Therapy often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and significant reductions in feelings of distress. But there are no guarantees of what you will experience.

Our first few sessions will involve an evaluation of your needs. By the end of the evaluation we will be able to offer you some first impressions of what our work will include and what treatment plan to follow. If you decide to continue with therapy. You should evaluate this information along with your own opinions of whether you feel comfortable working together. Therapy involves a large commitment of time, money and energy, so you should be very careful about the therapist you select. If you have questions about our procedures, we should discuss them whenever they arise if your doubts persist, we will be happy to refer you to another mental health professional for a second opinion.

Please call us for an individual, couples or family therapyconsultation today.
